The Ojai Valley News is Ojai's source of information

Notice: The elections office posted an update at 4 p.m. today, showing that Joe DeVito now has a one-vote lead over Lenny Klaif - 893 to 892.
New number came from a batch of absentee ballots dropped off at the precincts on election day. I believe the provisional ballots still need to be verified before the elections officials will even post the numbers.
This race is not yet decided - but Joe picked up 33 votes in the late count.
I'm not going to miss all those voice mails from Ahhhnold!
Elections are one of the things that define our nation. Why would I be happy it is over? Sure, it can be difficult, frustrating, and angering but ultimately it has served us well and I hope it will continue to in the future. A lively debate far outstrips disinterest. I am concerned about the tone the Ojai Valley News has taken in the past week or two, especially the editorials by the publisher, and now this blog question. I find it hard to believe that a newspaper would wish for the election to come quickly so things can return to normal. I also find it hard to believe that a newspaper publisher would take comments made by the public, to a public organization (the Ojai Valley News), as a personal attack. As a result, I am giving serious consideration to canceling my subscription to the OVN; it doesn't seem like they want the business anyway, and perhaps they will not be sad to see me go.
I'm happy with the outcome, but glad it's over!
I enjoy the election season, but am most thankful that the nasty, nasty campaign ads are done. I also wish the sign fairy would return to REMOVE the yard signs not only from the main roads, but from my neighbors' yards! I supported many, many winning candidates, but took my signs down, and removed my bumper stickers, last Tuesday evening. My one neighbor still has his W'04 bumper sticker on his car. What's up with that? Nothing worse than gloating winners and sore losers!
I didn't miss the hanging chads this time.
As the saying goes; Be the change you wish to see!
I am optimistic that the changes in the house and senate will bring about some necessary changes for us all. However, we need to make changes in our own lives too. Are you doing that or are you prepared to do that?
Does Kenley Neufeld have an exaggerated sense of his own importance?
Does Lisa Snider have an exaggerated sense of her own importance? Does the OVN have an exaggerated sense of its own importance? How about the city of Ojai? How about the planet Earth?
I don't think we need to get personal. Kenley and I actually had a nice discussion off-line. Democracy comes for a price, but it's worth it!
